I do not have breast cancer, nor have I experienced the heartbreak of watching a loved one battle this killer of women.....
I walk because 1 out of 8 women is diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in her Life.
And that fact is simply unacceptable to me...
I will be walking 60 miles in 3 days in one of the boldest breast cancer events in history.
I wanted to do something bigger than myself, something with meaning, something with power. It breaks my heart to hear accounts of people who have faced this cancer. I have cried watching videos of survivors, of family members, of loved ones who have watched a woman they love battle breast cancer. My heart breaks for their pain. The thing i am looking forward to the most during this journey is the opportunity to meet these women who have inspired me without my even knowing their names.
I walk for all those who fight this cancer. For all the families who have held their mothers, sisters, daughters, wives...held them as they fought to beat breast cancer.
Because i walk for all those who have struggled with this cancer instead of for a specific individual, I am asking everyone I know to give me the names of women that i can walk in honor of, in support of, and in memory of. I will write each and every name on its own pink ribbon and wear all the ribbons during my 3 day walk so that they will all be walking with me.
